Big Ben: For whom the bell tolls.

Big Ben Roethlisberger at 26 years old is offered the most lucrative contract in Steelers 76 year history worth almost $102 million dollars......and accepts. Just for signing the contract to seal the deal he gets $25 million and is guaranteed $36 million. The contract is for eight years which puts him just at 34 years old and most comfortable in his old age.

Ben has said from the beginning that he does not want to be traded around from team to team and like his peers from the past, wants to remain on a team for his career. That is a quality that is lacking in many professional sports these days and he is to be commended. Hopefully this is a sign of maturity for the young quarterback for the Steelers and he won't be out being Evil Knevil on his crotch rocket. Afterall no one wants $36.5 million and be wheelchair bound, not on purpose anyway.

So where does Ben rank in quarterback history among the greats of the past, current and future ? The Steelers think he is the best since Terry Bradshaw with four Super Bowl rings in his career. Talk to Terry and you will undoubtedly hear him give praise to the supporting casts of the era that are among the greatest at their positions. Swan, Stallworth, Greene, Blier, Harris and Lambert.

In any event, bring it on Big Ben, the Browns will be waiting !
